Saints Proclus and Hilarios
Date of celebration: 12/07
The Holy Martyrs Proclus and Hilarios lived in the time of the Roman emperor Trainus (98 – 117 AD) and the ruler Maximus.
Saint Proclus was the first to be arrested and after declaring his faith in God before the emperor, he was taken to the ruler to be tortured. So first they burned his belly with burning torches, then they tore his whole body apart with iron claws, then they hung him, and finally the decision was made to kill him with bows.
On his way to the place of martyrdom, the Saint met his nephew Hilarios, who greeted his uncle. That’s why he was arrested.
Thus, after Saint Proclus was killed with the bows, Hilarios was also killed, after first being asked if he was also a Christian. Thus they received the crown of martyrdom.
