Saints Patrick, bishop of Proussa, Akakios, Menandros and Polyaenos
Date of celebration: 19/05
His excellent theological knowledge, but also his fervent faith, made him the patrician bishop of Prussia. This position for Patrikios was a spiritual fortress for the defense of the Gospel and a stronghold for the suppression of pagan error.
In his apostolic work he did not want to be alone. He had with him three willing collaborators, Akakios, Menandros and Polyaenos. With them, Patrick brought many pagans to the Christian faith. This, however, was reported to the ruler Julian the Hypaticus, and they were immediately arrested.
The lord with philosophical discussions tried to convince Patrick that Christ is not God. Patricius, with his rhetorical skill and excellent theological training, overthrew Julian’s arguments one after the other. He, seeing his ideological crush from the Christian teacher, ordered and beheaded Patrikios with his three associates.
