Saint Theodore of Trichina
April 20
Saint Theodore came from Constantinople and was born of rich and pious parents. From a young age he followed the solitary life, becoming a monk in the monastery that was called the monastery of Trichina for him. He dedicated his whole life to the ministry of the poor and the sick. He was called Trichina because he had hairy dresses.
His life was austere and with a lot of restraint, in order to give as many goods as possible to the suffering. At night, Theodore always found time for prayer and study. He lived in a society of deprived people, whose needs were great. That is why he motivated many rich people to dispose of as many goods as they could.
Many of them gave him enough money and necessities, which Theodore disposed of with great distinction. First to those who were most in need, such as orphans, poor widows and sick family heads. He benefited until the last day of his life. Saint Theodore slept in peace and received Grace from God, his tomb oozing fragrant myrrh. Thus, those who flocked there with faith and reverence, received health of soul and body.
