Saint Plato
Date of celebration: 18/11
Saint Plato lived at the end of the 3rd century AD. He came from Ankara in Galatia, Asia Minor, and was the brother of the martyr Antiochus.
At a young age he was arrested by the pagans because he proclaimed his faith in Jesus Christ and they led him before the ruler Agrippino. Agrippinus seeing the beauty of the young man and knowing that he possessed property, tried to attract him with flattery. But Saint Plato refused and continued to proclaim his faith in the One and Only God.
After the ruler saw that he failed to convert him by tempting him, he threatened him with martyrdom. Despite all this, Saint Plato remained steadfast in his faith. So Agrippina ordered him to be mercilessly flogged and then tortured with red-hot rods.
The Saint kept all his faith and did not stop confessing Jesus Christ, that is why his beheading was ordered (306 AD). Thus, the Holy Great Martyr Plato surrendered his spirit to the Lord and was honored with the amaranth crown of martyrdom.
