Prophet Habakkum
Holiday date: 02/12/
Abbakum, whose name means “warm embrace”, was from the tribe of Simeon and the son of Shaphat, and the time he acted is set between 650 and 672 BC.
In his prophetic book, distinguished for its remarkable literary grace, he rebukes the Jewish people because they have deviated from the true religion into idolatry. Here is what he specifically mentions, regarding how one should believe in God: “If he submits, my soul does not delight in him; but the just lives by faith in me. But I rejoice in the Lord, I rejoice in God my savior”. (Habakkuk, II 4, III 18). Which means, if anyone faints and hungers in the various trials, let him know, says the Lord, that my soul does not rest in him. The righteous one who believes in me and keeps my Law will be saved and live. But I, says the Prophet, will rejoice, hoping in the Lord. My heart will be filled with joy for my savior God.
The prophet Habakkuk died peacefully and was buried in the place of his fathers.
