Palm Sunday
It celebrates 7 days before Holy Easter.
On this day we celebrate the solemn entry of the Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Then Jesus, coming from Bethany to Jerusalem, sent two of his Disciples and they brought him a colt. And he sat on it to enter the city.
And the people, hearing that Jesus was coming, immediately took palm branches in their hands and went out to meet him. And some with their clothes, others cutting branches from the trees, paved the way where Jesus would pass. And all together, even the little children, shouted: “Hosanna; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the king of Israel.”
Christ enters Jerusalem “on a pole”. He marches and the Israelites greet him with honors as King. He does not pay particular attention to honors, he does not limit himself to the festival, to temporary glory, but proceeds to the cross and the Resurrection.
Christ’s entry into Jerusalem is ultimately the entry of martyrdom into the earthly life of the Lord. In a few days he will testify and die on the cross, to kill death and give life.
