Saints Codratos, Anectos, Paul, Dionysios, Cyprian and Crescis
Celebration date: 10/03
The Holy Martyrs Codratos, Anectos, Pavlos, Dionysios, Cyprian and Crescis were friends and martyred during the persecution of the emperors Decius (249-251 AD) or Valerian (253-259 AD) in Corinth, when ruler of Jason was from Greece.
In the Menologion of Emperor Basil II, it is mentioned that among the Christians, those who were captured were massacred, but those who fled hid in the mountains for as long as needed. So also the mother of Codratus, who came from the city of Corinth, fled to the mountain and hid. And as she was pregnant, she gave birth to a son whom she named Codratus. Then, after living for a while, she died, leaving behind her infant son. He was nourished by the clouds that gathered above him and watered him. Codratus, after he grew up, taught the Christian faith to Anectus, Crescenda, Cyprian, Paul and Dionysius, who had in the meantime taken refuge with him. But Saints Anektos, Crescos, Cyprian and Paul were arrested because they were Christians. The ruler Jason tried in various ways to tempt them and convince them to renounce their Christian faith and sacrifice to idols. They confessed Christ with spiritual courage, were tortured and finally beheaded.
Thus the Holy Martyrs entered into the joy of the Kingdom of God and our Lord.
The Holy Martyr Dionysius was accused to the ruler of Corinth of disobeying the command of the kings and of despising the gods, preaching another God Crucified and saying that He is the Creator of heaven and earth and sea and all that is in them, He who is to come from heaven and judge the living and the dead with glory and render to each one according to his works. Therefore, after being arrested and bound in chains, he presented himself to the ruler, who tried to force him, sometimes with flattery and sometimes with threats, to deny Christ and sacrifice to idols. But the Martyr of Christ Dionysios confessed Christ with a loud voice. Thus he was slaughtered with a knife and his temporary life ended.
