Saint Paisios: God also helps animals. How many Saints are protectors of animals! But what are the poor people doing?
Agios Paisios:
-Elder, what is that buzzing sound?|
-A bee settled on my window and is now working intensively. What do I draw at night with their voices!
Come let me show you my hive. Guess what architecture the bees work with, when they have neither an architect nor a contractor!
I wish that you too work properly, spiritually, to build a spiritual beehive, to produce spiritual honey, for the laity to come to eat and be sweetened spiritually.
– What does the Psalmist mean, Elder: “You save men and animals, O Lord”?
-It means that God helps animals too. How many Saints are protectors of animals! But what are the poor people doing?
We could not even for a week do the obedience that these do to man. If they are fed, they are fed otherwise they are left fasting. If they don’t do what their boss wants, they get hit.
And what trouble they do, without expecting any salary. We have a “Lord have mercy” to say, Heaven to receive. Is this a small thing? We were therefore passed on to selflessness and patience and obedience.
Watch everything, because everything helps. I notice how diligently the ants work, without having a supervisor. I have not found in any human being the delicacy that I saw in ants.
The new ants go and carry sticks and a bunch of other useless things to the nest, because they don’t yet know what to bring. The old ants let them carry them, without breaking their eagerness, and then take them out of the nest.
Then, little by little, the new ones see what the old ones carry and learn what they should bring. If it were us, we would say: “Come here you, what are you carrying? Throw them out quickly!’
Animals were made by God to serve man, but also to set an example. Man, if he is man, benefits from everything.
