Saints Simeon, through Christ Salos and John
Date of celebration: 21/07/2020
The faithful fathers Simeon and John, came from Edessa in Syria and lived in the years of King Justin the Younger (about 518 AD). They were very good friends and so they decided to go together to Jerusalem to visit the Holy Land.
After worshiping, they went to the Monastery of Agios Gerasimos and became monks, from the holy Nicona. But before seven days were completed in the monastery, they left for the desert where they lived together for forty years, under hard training.
Then Simeon returned to Jerusalem and expressed the desire through his prayer to remain unknown. Indeed God thus spared things, that Simeon pretended to be a fool. During his stay in Middle Syria, he performed many miracles and dwelt in the Lord poor and afflicted.
Later John also arrived there, where he learned about the death of Simeon and after a while he fell asleep himself.
