Saint Theodosia the Virgin
Date of celebration: 29/05/2020
Saint Theodosia came from Tyre, Phoenicia and had not only a virgin body, but also a virgin soul. From the age of 18, she shone for her zeal and fervent faith among the young pagan women. This was reported to the ruler Urvanos, who in every tempting way tried to convince her to deny Christ.
But the virgin Theodosia remained unmoved in her Holy faith. Urbanus, seeing her indomitable persistence, was enraged and in a beastly manner broke her bones and sawed her flesh. Then he approached her and suggested that she convert, even at the last moment, and he would immediately heal her wounds.
Half-dead Theodosia replied: “I am a Christian.” Then the tyrant ordered and they threw her into the sea, where she gave up her spirit.
