Saint Andronikos and Athanasia his companion

The Saints Andronikos and Athanasia his spouse lived in the year 540 AD. and they were virtuous husbands, who came from Antioch of Syria. They were wealthy and lived according to God’s will.
Andronikos worked as a moneylender in Antioch and had two children from this marriage, but they died. This depressed the two parents and to find solace they fled for a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
From there they went to Egypt, where by mutual decision they became monks and entered a monastery. Andronikos went to Abba Daniel’s Monastery, while his wife Athanasia went to the women’s Monastery of Tavennisiotes. There, after spending the rest of their lives as an ascetic, they passed away peacefully.
