Saints Evlabios and Evlabia the brothers
Celebration date: 10/10/2021
The sisters Evlabios and Evlabia lived during the reign of Emperor Maximian (296 AD).
The persecution against the Christians was cruel and merciless. Therefore, Eulabius and his sister Eulabia hid with other Christians on the mountain. There, they lived cultivating prayer and the study of the Holy Scriptures.
One day, Eulabius went to Nicomedia to procure food. But the pagans recognized him and immediately arrested him. Of course, when asked by the king if he believes in Christ, he openly confessed that he is a Christian, so they put him inside a pagan temple to sacrifice by force. Eulabios, however, through prayer crushed the idol of the god Ares.
And while they began to flog him in the most inhuman manner, his sister Eulabia rushed in, and after embracing him, she besought God to grant her to commiserate with her brother.
Then they put them both in a cauldron of boiling water. But miraculously they cooled down, and so they came out safe and sound. This made 200 pagans believe in Christ, who together with Eulabius and Eulabia were beheaded in favor of the Lord’s truth.
